I was luck to spend a few fun hours with this gorgeous family. These two kids were just so much fun to photograph... so much character and both so cute! I was also treated to a yummy home-made snack after the shoot - I've got such a great job!

I've been lucky to have these two as models before. Mister Three and his little brother Mister Six Months are both just gorgeous (as you can see) and had loads of fun in their little garden boat! I just love how little boys can so easily turn a tub into a swash-buckling adventure in the veggie patch!

Is there anybody out there still?
Yes, I know... its been a bit quiet in here lately! I've been very busy doing lots of gorgeous shoots, but have been so slack with updating my poor neglected blog. I've also been very busy on an exciting new project of mine... a new baby! Our little family of three is due to expand by one some time this coming winter. We are so thrilled!

Hmmm... I just realised that my reference in the previous post might seem a little random. I mean, I do live in Melbourne, which despite the opinion of most Sydney-siders is actually a major city. So it may seem odd that I can just casually take my son to feed baby cows. Well, here is the proof. We are blessed to live in one of the prettiest areas of Melbourne that just happens to be close to beautiful locations like this! We were just taking a drive and saw these little cows milling around near the fence. I could not pass up on the opportunity to let Riley feed friendly cows!

I've been super busy with work lately, which means that I have not had anywhere near as much Riley time as I would like. So when I get a day with just the two of us, its extra extra special! We did all the sorts of things Riley loves... playground hopping, feeding baby cows, going to shopping centres and looking at clothes (no, hang on, that one was me...). But his all time favorite thing was being let loose in a field of flowers on a bright sunny day.

She is coming to Melbourne and needs newborn models for the workshop on September 10th. I did a lovely newborn/family session today and just could not resist putting these few sneak peek photos of baby L up for the Mum and Dad. He was such a good little poser! Not what you would expect from a 4 week old!

Balloons, balloons make me happy!

Yo Gabba Gabba anyone? My boy loves that show! Their songs - whilst great - do tend to get stuck in your head. I've had the balloon song stuck in my head for days and wanted to get some shots of Riley with a big bunch of balloons, but just did not get organised enough to find any. In a happy coincidence Riley's swimming centre is celebrating their birthday and every child gets to come home with their very own floaty balloon! Before the balloon had time to deflate Riley was whisked off to the nearest field with said balloon in tow...

Stop motion!

I just love the character of stop motion movies and decided to have a go at one myself. An active and slightly grumpy 15 month old was probably not the best subject, but he did pretty well all things considered! In case you were interested there are 960 still images in this movie.

It seems my little pirate is getting harder to entertain each day... new challenges are in order at about 3pm each day in order to keep feral hour at bay. Earlier this week we had a brief sunny patch in the afternoon and decided to take advantage of it by sailing around our local park. Is there anything better than watching a little boy develop his imagination?

... I'm not sure that is a real word, but this newborn sure is gorgeous. This is Mr N, he was about 8 days old when he had his modeling debut. He was such a little trooper, but I do have to say that he made short business of 90% of my props. Lets just say that pretty much everything required NapiSan and a good wash once I got home!

From Autumn, straight into winter. That cold snap I was talking about produced some snow on the hills surrounding Melbourne, so we took advantage of it and took Riley to see snow for the first time. He was a little dubious about being turned into a little puffa-snow-bunny, but LOVED the snow. He did spend most of the time eating it, but then what do you expect from a 14 month old?

Yes, yes... I know it is winter already. I noticed thanks to the freezing mornings and the fact that my back door has completely jammed shut due to the 20° temperature difference between inside and out. Our trusty fire has been going for days and the cat has started to hang around the house much more! Anyhow, I had been meaning to post these photos for ages (like, while it was still Autumn!). Riley enjoyed his second Autumn and loved the opportunity to romp amongst the leaves (as would any little boy).

How cute is this family? They are also old friends of ours who kindly allowed us to crash with them while we were on holiday recently. Their little boy Benny is only 10 days younger than our little man so it was especially nice to see them 'playing' together. Bella is the daughter of an old friend... well the friend is not actually 'old', but we've known each other for a while at least! I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take some photos of her while we were up visiting in Brisbane. These were taken at the Brisbane Botanical Gardens in the city and we managed to find a pond filled with water lilly's that just happened to match Bella's pink tutu! She is such a sweet girl... don't you agree?

Holiday

It is so lovely to be able to spend time with family! We have been visiting my brother, his wonderful wife and their gorgeous daughter. Fortunately for me my sister in law is also a photographer (www.angelahammondphotography.com), so we have spent the last week going to interesting shoot locations and taking lots of happy snaps of our little ones together. These ones were taken yesterday at Shorncliffe Pier. We did try to make it for the sunrise, but the reality of trying to leave the house by 5am with two toddlers was a little too much for us!

Oh faithful kitty

This is our faithful pet Duie. We picked him up from kitty death row about 3 years ago. He was the biggest, most talkative cat in the whole cat shelter and my husband fell in love instantly... and that is saying something as he is known as a cat hater. I think he liked him because he was very dog like (affectionate, large, outgoing etc...). So Duie was our baby... that is until Riley came along. We were quite worried about how things would pan out. Being such a sooky cat, we were not sure how he would take to the competition. We need not have worried! He absolutely adores Riley, and is so very patient with him. There have been many occasions where Duie would have been justified in taking a nice juicy chunk out of Riley. There was the tail pulling, the forcing of dummies into mouths and we can't forget the infamous poo on head incident (as much as Duie want's us to!). But through it all Duie remains calm and still seeks Riley out to play with. What a lovely cat!

REAL boys eat dirt...

Well, I knew it would happen sooner or later... my boy likes to eat dirt. He is also at the age where he wants to 'help' us do everything - gardening included. Riley loved playing in the dirt and was especially good at picking the weeds out of the wheelbarrow and putting them back in their rightful place in the garden! Obviously we need to discuss the details of how weeding works...

All day I've been thinking about this time last year. At exactly this time last year I had only just given birth to my beautiful baby boy and we were moving into our hospital room. How amazing that a year has already past? Surely it can't have been that long already! We had a lovely day celebrating Riley with close family. He seemed to have a wonderful time playing with new presents and of course eating his first birthday cake! Happy birthday beautiful boy, I can't wait to enjoy many, many more with you.

My baby is growing up far too fast. His first birthday rapidly approaches and my baby is slipping away from me! The past few days have brought a flurry of new skills and it is obvious that new concepts are 'switching on' everyday. Photographers are always on the look out for good light. At this time of year we get gorgeous golden light shining on our bathroom door at bathtime. Riley is also currently obsessed with opening and closing doors, so combine these two things while waiting for the bath to fill and you get this shot!

It was the most beautiful day here today so we decided to take advantage of the weather and the public holiday and take a walk in one of our local parks. As you can see, Riley loved it! Have you ever seen a happier baby?

Little blue wagon

Riley is attempting to master the art of walking. After watching him moving my kitchen chairs around the house for the last few weeks, I bought him this new toy. It's a wonderful little push wagon from Ikea, that allows you to control the speed of the wheels. Most toys like it tend to run a little too fast for the early stages of walking (which leads to the inevitable face plant). The look on his face as he toddles around is so cute! He is so proud of himself... but the cutest thing in these photos is the collection of things he decided to put in the wagon. All carefully selected by Riley and placed in the wagon for a ride around the back yard.

Now that my baby has a few fangs it is high time they are brushed! We introduced the toothbrush during bath time today, and as you can see the toothbrush is a hit. I was worried that he would not like having his teeth brushed, but he LOVED it, and then proceeded to continue brushing his teeth for the rest of his bath. Who knew a toothbrush was such a fascinating thing?

I had every intention of starting this blog at the beginning of the year... but it looks like that boat has sailed. Oh well. New blog - (almost) new year. The plan is to record snapshots of my life throughout this year. I've started with the most important thing in my life at the moment... my little man. He's currently 9 months old, and I suspect you will be seeing a lot of him.
